Five Star Amateur Baseball

Five Star Amateur Baseball was formed over 20 years ago to act as the 501c3 for the Jacksonville Warriors. It has been one of the most prestigious and successful 18U amateur baseball teams in the state of Florida. With past allegiances with American Legion, Connie Mack, the National Baseball Congress and other elite organizations, the Jacksonville Warriors have become synonymous with excellence in amateur baseball.

Ben Stevens (1945-2009)
Founded in 1986 by Ben Stevens and still operating under his principles of ethics, discipline and class in baseball, the Warriors are among the elite in their field. Unfortunately Ben lost his 6 year battle with cancer in September of 2009. Ben's desire was for the Jacksonville Warriors to become a program to help facilitate and develop the love of baseball in children ranging in age from 8-18 years old.

In 2009, as Ben's health began to fail, we began to develop Ben's vision of a baseball program. The younger children(8-12 year olds) play under the name of the Jacksonville BlueClaws. They will act as the Warriors "farm system". The goal of the BlueClaw program is to focus on teaching the fundamentals of baseball and using the game to teach life lessons. The secondary goal is to get the children prepared to continue on to middle and high school baseball.

Theron Todd leads the baseball portion of the Warrior program. Theron has agreed to become Ben Stevens’ successor as director of baseball operations. A former player in the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners organization, Todd brings his years of experience in playing and coaching professional baseball to the Warriors.

Todd's understanding of what it takes to be noticed in the draft, seen by colleges, develop into a complete player will hopefully give every member of the Warriors an opportunity to succeed at a level beyond high school baseball. His goal will be to find, teach and develop each member of the Warriors and then assist those members in placement moving forward.

From day one, the goal of Warriors founder Ben Stevens was to display the Warriors' players in front of the top baseball talent evaluators in the country -- including professional baseball scouts, college coaches, junior college coaches and others. The goal is for every member of the Warriors team to advance his opportunities to continue his baseball career.

Before Ben's death, he would always say that all of his hard work to build and maintain this team was worth it when he would hear about all of the former Warriors players "passing it on" to their children.

Thank you for your interest in Ben's Program.  "Pass it on."
